Sportsblog: Intersoccer for Fall

I hope readers of this blog are settled into new rhythms after the end of summer and the return to school/daycare and 9-5 jobs (who am I kidding, 8am-7pm) is more like it here!).   If you are like me, you were swamped all summer and didn’t have time to think about extra-curricular activities for the fall — for you OR  your kids — but now have a moment (if only a moment!), here and there, to have a think.

Sports activities are always great for afterschool or weekends, or even early mornings for those not yet in “real” school.  For those of you with toddlers and preschoolers, you were likely very happy to hear with yesterday’s blog, that Playball now as a permanent indoor venue, in Mies, and that they still have spaces.    Those of you with older active kids, don’t despair, there are places still available for your kids too!  Intersoccer, a well-known and respected grassroots football organisation  is still accepting applications for its fall classes and camps.   There are many to chose from so if you haven’t yet signed up, you will want to read on below.

intersoccer

For Parents Club Members who sign up between now and 24 September 2013, InterSoccer will provide 10% off enrolments on any of the autumn term courses (tot, mini, after school, weekend soccer) in the Lac Leman region (Geneva, Versoix, Founex, Gland, Morges, Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux).

To take advantage of this offer, the discount is based on the book online price, 10% being reimbursed after payment.

If you are not sure which date or venue will suit your family best, Intersoccer is offering free trials (one free trial per course per child), which are available until the book online option closes.   This means that not only must you get your Membership Application Form into expatparent in the next two weeks (& pay your fee), but you also must book online with Intersoccer by Wednesday, 25 September 2013.    10% reimbursements will be sent to families on 30 September 2013.

If this offer goes well and generates enrolments, there are possibilities for similar offers for Club Members in the future.

Sportsblog: Playball has a permanent venue

IMG_5310Parents of toddlers and preschoolers will be happy to note that Playball Switzerland, after three years of searching, has found a venue for classes in the Nyon area.

On the lake road, in Mies, above the new creche and next to the Silhouette gym, the venue is very easy to access and and parking is available.    Close to CDL and GES and only 10mins from Nyon, this indoor space is just what Playball has been after for its activities.

Why Playball?  These camps are tailored to meet the needs of younger children and are based on the fundamental sport skills necessary for most sports, including tennis, hockey, cricket, golf, football, rugby, basketball, football, volleyball – just about any ball sport you can imagine!

What is Playball?  The programme is based on a curriculum, maintained and developed over 25 years, by a consortium of child development specialists, teachers and sports professionals.  Each day covers a wide and varied schedule of sports skills and games where children have a chance to participate in a range of instructor-led activities.

PlayballbigThe teacher-to-child ratio never exceeds 1:10 which makes Playball entirely unique – its teachers are able to spend more time working with each individual child, offering confidence boosting praise and ensuring each child has a positive experience!

Sound great?   The fall session starts the second week of September and classes are already filling up.  They will run on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.   Additional times/days available with sufficient demand.
