Eventblog: Upcoming Club Events

club9titleLa rentrée is only a week away (at least for kids in Public School in Vaud), which means it’s time for our regular club activities and events to resume after a short summer break.   Starting next week we have a Ladies Night Out, being held on the evening of 28 August 2013 at the Plage de Nyon.   Mothers-to-be and mothers of kids of all ages are invited to come out to meet others at this regular quarterly event (we generally have at least four gatherings per year in Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall).   To keep track of numbers, RSVPs to our Social Committee on events@expatparent.ch are requested.

If you cannot make it out on Wednesday evening, how about in the morning?  Friday, 30 August 2013 we resume our coffee mornings.   Morning at Munchkins (M@M) will take place from 9:00-11:30 at the Munchkins Boutique & Cafe on the Grande Rue in Founex.   This is for mothers or fathers alone or with their young children.   Anyone who is new to the area is particularly encouraged to come out.

For mothers with babies, expatparent has also arranged for Samantha, from Baby Sensory Switzerland, to make a trip down from the Valais to Vaud to offer a trial class.   The FREE trial will be held alongside/after our M@M morning, allowing parents of young babies another opportunity to connect with others but also interact with their own babies.   Though you can drop in at any time for the M@M Coffee Morning, to participate in the Baby Sensory trial reservations are required.   Club members who decide to sign up after the trial will be offered a preferential rate.

On 11 September 2013, the Book Club is resuming.   This month they have chosen the classic Life of Pi.    If you’ve already read it in English, why not re-read it in French?  Order your book through Amazon and expatparent earns a commission.

For parents-to-be or those expecting a second or subsequent child, we are also planning to hold a childbirth & parenting preparatory class this fall.   The weekend workshop will be offered in September, October and/or November.  Visit our workshop page for more details or register your interest on doodle.  Those who are breastfeeding and expecting to return to work early, but want to continue to breastfeed may also be interested in Working without Weaning Workshop.

Finally, affiliates of expatparent also resume their activities this fall.   Geneva Baby Massage resumes its five week workshops the week of 9 September 2013.  Classes on Tuesday mornings, Tuesday afternoons or Thursday mornings.    Suellen also hopes to hold an International Parenting Seminar this fall.    And of course, private consultations can be arranged at any time, just contact us!

MIV Book Club Spring dates

The Moms-in-Vaud Social Network launched its book club in October 2011. Six months on, we’ve discussed five novels (and read more), met for wine & cheese, talked with authors and watched clips about book discussions. We’ve now set dates and books for Spring & early summer. Even if you cannot make it out, do feel free to join in with the read. Books can be ordered through our Amazon Shop. Or, if you cannot make it out, think about the e-book versions!
