expatparent Michelle teaches her son to skate at Patinoire de Nyon
This week is a transitional one in Switzerland. It marks the start of winter as outdoor ice rinks across the canton and country start opening their doors to kids and adults alike. Possibly the first to open in the Geneva>La Cote area was the Patinoire de Nyon, which opened on Tuesday, 12 November 2013. There is free skating time almost every day and groups can rent the rink in the evenings for a skate & fondue. The area’s rinks continue to open this weekend: Coppet opens this Saturday, Gland next week its Patinoire opening on 22 November 2013. The Patinoire de Versoix will open its covered outdoor rink on 29 November 2013.
In Geneva, the large rink at Carouge will open on 30 November 2013. Charmilles already opened at the end of October and the Patinoire in Grand-Saconnex opens tomorrow, the one at Bastions on Sunday.
In the Morges>Lausanne area there is the indoor rink in Morges, plus Montchoisi and Pontaise in Lausanne and the Malley Sports Center rink as well. Further afield, “Vevey sur Glace” opened its large 600m2 patinoire already the second week of November.
